I’ve just landed back in NY after a week that was beautifully filled with magic.
The magic of sisterhood.
Growing up, I was always the one girl amongst like 10 dudes. I sooooo relished being the token girl and bro-ing out with the guys. I always felt girls were catty and complicated and liked colors I wasn’t into (pink glitter, anyone?)
Fast forward to this week where I was complimenting gals on their glitter nail polish (and genuinely wishing it was on my fingers too!) and feeling totally at home with a whole group of women I was meeting for the first time.
When I first joined Nisha Moodley’s mastermind beginning of the year, I had a SERIOUS aversion to the word SISTER. I mean, I could not get it out of my mouth. It had me crawling in my skin and had me feeling like I was a nun or something.
And again, fast forward to now and I use it ALL THE TIME. It feels so good to embrace it and to let myself sink into the word and all that it holds: a feeling of unity, a feeling of being held, a feeling of deep unconditional love.
Sisterhood. It is a salve. And who better to show us this than Jordana Jaffe. I met Jordana about a year ago at her birthday picnic where she had gathered together a group of amazing women who inspired me into total bliss. Many of them were meeting each other for the first time and all of us just fell in love with each other instantly.
Jordana has that gift. The ability to bring us together and to add a sprinkle of magic to the experience. I joined her and her wife Gena’s facebook group right when it started and have since told every woman I know about it because it is a networking gem without the networking. Today they have over 4500 phenomenal women in the group who are giving and loving and tossing around their own shade of glitter into the world.
Jordana Jaffe is the co-founder of Magical Business Academy, a company she created with her wife, Gena. She works with women entrepreneurs and supports them in creating a business that fills both their hearts and their bank accounts.
She believes that a successful business comes from allowing yourself to be exactly who you are and finding a way to make everything you do feel fun.
In this interview, we dive into:
How your YOU-NESS is your biggest asset
How no business strategy can be the best & most PLEASURABLEbusiness strategy
Finding expansion even when you are not hitting your financial goal.
Tips on how to make a really un-pleasurable task more fun (accounting, anyone?)
How to create a business reality that merges systems & structure with magic & play.
This week I’m in Beirut teaching a Pleasure Playground and spending some time with my dad and two little half sisters (5 & 6 years old). And boy does their capacity for pleasure NEVER end!!!
I’m still panting from hide and seek. They’ve been up since 7am and have done swimming, roller-blading, coloring, bracelet-making, eating, eating some more and they seemed really disappointed when I bowed out after all this hide and seek to “work on my computer.” So this will be short… They are expecting me back.
The capacity to feel the utmost pleasure is something that most women have capped, shrunk, diminished or put a lid on.
Because at some point in their life they got the signal(s) that female pleasure is unsafe and dangerous. Even as a teacher of pleasure, I find myself in instances when I unconsciously put a limit when things just feel TOO GOOD.Just a few weeks ago, I had a morning of back-to-back embodiment practices (jade egg practice followed by meditation followed by a 1.5 hour yoga class). Halfway through yoga, I nearly toppled over giggling I was so high off all my senses.
INSTANTLY after class, I spent the afternoon finding reasons to be less happy because somewhere in my brain, a red alert went off.
TOO MUCH BLISS. SOMETHING BAD IS GOING TO HAPPEN!!!
And so I found myself worrying about a marketing strategy or something business-related that didn’t really matter.
Point is, most of us, no matter where we are in our journey can learn to increase our capacity for pleasure(CLICK TO TWEET) – which is why this week’s interview in The Pleasure Sessions with Kit Murray Maloney, the founder and CEO of O’Actually (www.oactually.com) was a MUST. I am so passionate about her mission: to bring more female pleasure and O’s into the world.
In this interview we speak about:
Tips on how to talk to your partner about what YOU like in terms of pleasure.
The similarities between masturbation & meditation.
How masturbation can help you lose belly fat! ☺
Impact of mainstream porn on our partner’s expectations.
What the Pleasure Pledge is and how it can totally change your day-to-day.
In my years of working with women in my coaching practice & my movement classes, I’ve come to realize the vast importance of pleasure as a form of medicine.
In these sessions, we come together to explore the role of pleasure in different aspects of our lives as women.
I interviewed some trailblazing female thought leaders and entrepreneurs who really GET how to weave in PLAY & PLEASURE into it all.
I chatted with:
a body love coach
a zen buddhist sexpert (what? Yes, exactly)
a business coach who has made 6 figures in one month working less than 4 hours a day
a dabblist (what’s that you ask? Tune in and you’ll want to be a dabblist too!)
a business joyologist
and a fellow pleasure-seeker who is creating female-friendly adult entertainment, changing the world one orgasm at a time.
The conversations are so friggin juicy ladies!
Today I’m sending you an interview with Stephanie Burg, who’s is a fellow graduate from The Institute of Integrative Nutrition so you guessed it ladies, she’s another health coach! And I just love what Stephanie is up to in the world.
Stephanie Burg was a professional ballerina for over a decade. After years of restrictive, disordered eating and utter disregard for her body, a series of injuries took her from the stage and forced her to reevaluate every facet of her life, starting with her relationship to her body.
Now a Board Certified Nutrition & Lifestyle Coach, Stephanie is a fierce advocate for the human form, Stephanie believes that when a woman loves the body she calls home, she embraces her power to create the life she was born to live.
In this interview, we talk about:
the mindset of restricting calories
how a serious, debilitating injury can be a true awakening
practical tools on how to resist PUSHING towards your goal and instead flowing towards your pleasure.
the important lesson that professional ballet taught Stephanie.
Or listen/download it to your phone and listen to it in your car/on your walk here.
With pleasure, Nadia
