I’ve just landed back in NY after a week that was beautifully filled with magic.
The magic of sisterhood.
Growing up, I was always the one girl amongst like 10 dudes. I sooooo relished being the token girl and bro-ing out with the guys. I always felt girls were catty and complicated and liked colors I wasn’t into (pink glitter, anyone?)
Fast forward to this week where I was complimenting gals on their glitter nail polish (and genuinely wishing it was on my fingers too!) and feeling totally at home with a whole group of women I was meeting for the first time.
When I first joined Nisha Moodley’s mastermind beginning of the year, I had a SERIOUS aversion to the word SISTER. I mean, I could not get it out of my mouth. It had me crawling in my skin and had me feeling like I was a nun or something.
And again, fast forward to now and I use it ALL THE TIME. It feels so good to embrace it and to let myself sink into the word and all that it holds: a feeling of unity, a feeling of being held, a feeling of deep unconditional love.
Sisterhood. It is a salve. And who better to show us this than Jordana Jaffe. I met Jordana about a year ago at her birthday picnic where she had gathered together a group of amazing women who inspired me into total bliss. Many of them were meeting each other for the first time and all of us just fell in love with each other instantly.
Jordana has that gift. The ability to bring us together and to add a sprinkle of magic to the experience. I joined her and her wife Gena’s facebook group right when it started and have since told every woman I know about it because it is a networking gem without the networking. Today they have over 4500 phenomenal women in the group who are giving and loving and tossing around their own shade of glitter into the world.
